Hendre ddu Slate MineHendre ddu slate quarry is situated at the head of the Angell valley, north-west of Aberangell. The quarry operated from the 1850s to the 1940s with an extensive site featuring both surface and underground working. Production was small compared to other mines to the north. It closed in 1946. The site is now mostly enveloped in forestry which makes access difficult, however walk-in access to the main adit is relatively easy. Access to the upper quarry is best done using SRT.Hendre ddu Slate Mine Guide |
